We aim to engage various public groups about our research and its impact and societal implications. Public engagement will strengthen our research, and enhance our teaching and learning. Everyone at the SWC is encouraged to take part, underpinned by adequate support.
Neuroscience is a fast moving field which fascinates and inspires the public and we should make the most of that. Everyone has a brain!
Public Engagement Network
The SWC Public Engagement Network (SWC PEN) is open to any student or staff member of the SWC or the Gatsby Unit. The Network is for those who have an interest in, or experience of, public engagement with research. The Network will encourage members to share, reflect and develop practice and ideas for engaged research activities, and to access the latest public engagement news and opportunities available to them. Network members meet once a month to plan the next activity and we also have external speakers to highlight projects or formats and to inspire us! Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided. Network members receive regular emails, outlining relevant public engagement development and funding opportunities. There is a mailing list for members to share events and promote their own activities. Sign up to join the Network mailing list
- New Scientist Live: The SWC has a stand at this event, taking place at Excel London from 28 September - 1 October. Join us and use this opportunity to showcase your research and hone your communication skills.
We have taken part in various engagement activities and you can see a snapshot of a few of our previous public engagement activities.
